Featuring Hendrix & Taylon
There’s something incredibly romantic about vineyards in the morning — the soft light, the quiet stillness, and the sense that something magical could happen before the world wakes up. For Hendrix and Taylon, Brave & Maiden was more than just a winery, it became the backdrop to one of the most intimate and unforgettable moments of their love story.

The Vision: Romantic, Intentional, and Rooted in Nature
When Hendrix first reached out, he shared that he wanted more than just a proposal, he wanted an experience. Something that felt like an activity or a moment they could truly enjoy together. While he explored a few ideas, he kept coming back to something more organic and timeless: an outdoor setting, calm and beautiful, that would naturally align with who they are as a couple.
Taylon has a deep love for sunflowers and all things nature, and it was important to Hendrix that the space reflect her spirit. He envisioned a moment where she would feel completely herself. The idea of proposing at a vineyard in the early morning, where the sun would cast a soft glow and they’d be surrounded by stillness, felt just right.
He told her they had a wine tasting planned, something simple and sweet, and let the magic unfold from there.
The Moment: Soft Light, Big Feelings
The sun had just started warming the vines as they arrived. The quiet elegance of the vineyard paired with Hendrix’s calm confidence made everything feel effortlessly romantic. As they walked past the tasting garden toward the open vineyard path, Hendrix slowed down, took Taylon’s hand, and dropped to one knee.
Even though I knew it was coming, I still got chills. Taylon’s reaction was everything — surprise, emotion, laughter, and a heartfelt yes.
And just like that, a morning walk turned into a forever memory.
Why Brave & Maiden Was Perfect for Their Proposal
Santa Ynez is full of stunning wineries, but Brave & Maiden stands out with its curated beauty and peaceful setting. Early in the day, it’s calm, serene, and breathtaking. The vineyards glisten with morning dew, and the soft light makes skin tones glow — truly a photographer’s dream.
Because of the privacy, Hendrix and Taylon were able to have a moment that was fully theirs. No rush, no onlookers — just the sound of the breeze in the vines and their joy echoing through the rows.
A five-star experience at Brave and Maiden and Phil for creating the ultimate experience for Taylon and Hendrix. Phil was an incredible host, setting my husband and I up in our own area for a pretend tasting to keep a close eye on the moment.

How I Captured the Moment (Without Being Seen)
I love helping clients plan proposals that feel effortless and natural. That includes not drawing attention to the moment. At Brave & Maiden, I blended in as a wine guest, with my camera tucked away, casually sipping (or pretending to) while waiting for the cue.
Once the proposal began, I was in position to capture it all candidly, without interrupting or staging a thing. After the “yes,” we shared a little time in the vineyard capturing portraits while they soaked it all in — just joy, connection, and sunlight.
From Hendrix:
“Mackenzie is an exceptional photographer! She created an immediate rapport with my fiancé and I that made our engagement photoshoot comfortable and memorable. She was very communicative, professional, and collaborated with Brave and Maiden to help make the proposal as magical as possible! She went above and beyond. Not to mention, the photos were perfect! We’re thrilled with the whole experience, 10/10 recommend!”
Reading words like this is why I do what I do. I’m always so honored to help bring these memories to life.
